Takayama Spring Festival 2024. The spring festival, held at hie shrine on 14 and 15 april, celebrates the coming of spring whereas the autumn festival, held at sakurayama hachiman shrine on 9 and 10 october, is to pay regard to the gods. The timing of this is really nice, as in some years, it aligns perfectly with the full bloom of the cherry blossoms.
While mino will be living it up with their beautifully pink hanamikoshi, takayama in north gifu will be celebrating the takayama spring festival on april 14th & 15th (sun and mon) in style too, with their elaborate and exquisite floats showcasing the superb craftsmanship of the area. Every april 14 and 15, tens of thousands of people descend on takayama for its spring festival.
